Curio Mandarin Skunk Flower Review

By Stan Whitley

Mandarin Skunk, also known as Mandarin Sunset, is a very peaceful and relaxing hybrid which comes from the cross of Herojuana x Orange Skunk. Herojuana is a very relaxing indica dominant strain whose genetics originated from the Humbolt County Afghan otherwise known as “Petrolia Headstash” and crossed with “Killer New Haven” which is an outdoor hybrid from Kentucky. Orange Skunk on the other hand is a sativa dominant hybrid coming from the genetic cross of Californian Orange x Skunk No. 1 making for a fruity yet skunky aroma.

Upon opening the container for the first time I was impressed with the trichome coverage on all of the buds. The overall smell of the Mandarin Skunk by Curio is definitely true to its name, giving off a very skunky but savory kind of smell. This batch had a little bit more of a savory aftertaste and had a nice skunky note on the front-end of it making for a very interesting but tasty flavor profile.

Even though I consider this strain more of an indica hybrid, it has a slight cerebral effect and is very useful for day-time pain relief without becoming too relaxed. I found the perfect time to consume this specific strain was after work to help decrease the amount of back pain I was dealing with. The two dominant terpenes in this batch of Mandarin Skunk are Myrcene and Caryophyllene which pair for a nice pain-relieving and relaxing experience. One thing I enjoyed about this strain was that it did not get my appetite going like a lot of other strains do for me.
