Grassroots Funky Charms Flower Review

By Devin Holihan

Funky Charms is a calming, slightly uplifting, and balanced hybrid that comes from the cross of Grease Monkey x Rainbow Chip. This strain has an incredible blend of genetics with grandparents in the genealogy including: Sour Diesel, GSC, GG#4, and Jack Herer. Grease Monkey is a sweet, relaxing indica dominant strain with skunky overtones which comes from GG#4 x Cookies and Cream. The Rainbow Chip is a cross of Sunset Sherbet x Mint Chocolate Chip which leads to a sweet, fruity, and balanced hybrid with hints of chocolate and mint.

At first sight this strain is very appealing with dense tight buds and full trichome coverage. After opening the container, the “funk” in Funky Charms is immediately apparent and can most likely be attributed to the Grease Monkey half of the genetics. The Rainbow Chip comes through in the sweet, slightly fruity scents that follows the initial wave of skunky goodness. The flavor was just as pleasant as the smell, but in the reverse order. You notice the sweet, fruity flavors on the inhale with skunky and earthy notes on the exhale.

This strain felt true to the genetics, being an evenly balanced hybrid with moderate pain relief and mood elevation. This strain is perfect for after work when you want to decompress from the day and get into a good mood for the rest of your evening. I could also see this strain being good during the day due to the creativity it inspires and the calming yet uplifting effects. The dominant terpenes in this batch of Funky Charms are Caryophyllene, Myrcene, and Limonene which makes for a relaxing and mood boosting experience. I really enjoyed the light, uplifting feeling that was accompanied with a moderate body relief which allowed me to feel relaxed while still being able to make dinner, do things around the house, and engage in conversations.
